As 2019 draws to a close, we like to look back over the past 12 months and reflect.
We are delighted that more and more clubs are opening sensory viewing rooms, and we are still involved with the developments. We are continuing to work hard through emails and phone calls, and we still voluntarily support those clubs with rooms already!
This year has seen the opening of Aston Villas sensory viewing room and Manchester City’s sensory viewing room, among others. We’ve also been kept up to date with developments in the NFL and in Australia, where we’ve helped with advice through emails.
We had a wonderful meeting with a couple from Accessibility Australia in the summer and it was extremely informative to hear how Australia is so proactive when it comes to families with special needs, and the development of sensory viewing rooms in sports stadia out there.
We have more stadiums currently making progress in their developments, particularly with rooms expected in London in the near future, and we will be sharing those with you all as and when they are happy for us to release the information.
And to top off the year, we were absolutely stunned to hear of our MBE awards, which we received from The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, in November. We are incredibly humbled and thankful to you all for supporting us through our almost 6 years of The Shippey Campaign now!
It has been the most incredible journey, one where every step is a step towards helping more people with sensory needs enjoy a day of watching sport at a stadium. We look forward to the next year and more sensory viewing rooms in more sports stadia!
Thank you so much for joining us on our path to inclusion
Very best wishes to you all
