Well, yesterday, 2nd April was Autism Awareness day, and as we saw social media turn ‘blue for April 2’ our day saw red…and white stripes!
We were delighted and honoured to be invited to the launch of Sunderland AFC’s second sensory viewing room. Having applied for the grant through the partnership with the Premier League, BT, The Shippey Campaign and Lords Taverners, Experia worked their magic once again in kitting out a wonderful room.
Box 1 has been transformed from executive hospitality into a wonderful sensory viewing room, equipped to help those with sensory difficulties watch a live game.
The room boasts a TV showing the match live, a bubble tube with matting and fibre optic ropes, a projector and bean bags. Stadium seats have been brought in for users to get the full effect of watching a match and seats are also available directly outside the room to help with transition.
Although the result didn’t go our way today, the wonderful chocolate cake, in celebration of the room launch certainly put smiles on faces!
It was a fantastic day in the room and we’re looking forward to visiting again! Thanks Sunderland AFC, you’ve done those who need the room proud!
